  12.      pnmdepth _✓n_✓e_✓w_✓m_✓a_✓x_✓v_✓a_✓l [_✓p_✓n_✓m_✓f_✓i_✓l_✓e]

  14. DESCRIPTION
  15.      Reads a portable anymap as  input.   Scales  all  the  pixel
  16.      values, and writes out the image with the new maxval.  Scal-
  17.      ing the colors down to a smaller maxval will result in  some
  18.      loss of information.

  20.      Be careful of off-by-one errors when choosing the  new  max-
  21.      val.   For instance, if you want the color values to be five
  22.      bits wide, use a maxval of 31, not 32.
